29.08.14 - TIMES NIE: NEWSMAKERS MEET

An auditorium full of student writers and enthusiasts…all nascent journalistic minds anticipating with teeming spirits the arrival of some of the most veteran journalists of the country…It was a day when promising young student reporters had their first encounter with the intricacies of writing and reporting. The Times NIE Newsmakers meet on August 29, 2014 organised in association with Manav Rachna University saw children from more than 100 city schools attending the event.
Being true to its principles of inculcating healthy reading and writing habits amongst students, Queen’s Valley School participated in the event enthusiastically. Indira Dasan and Shardha Yadav of class XI represented the institution at the event. The event provided the students an opportunity to attend the book launch of Radhika Dhariwal’s debut novel The Petpost Secret and at the same time, ask the writer intelligent and thought provoking questions related to her extremely captivating and fascinating tale of bondage, friendship, benevolence, bravery and liberty.
Mr. Vikas Singh, Resident Editor, The Times of India, Delhi took immense interest in the question- answer session. Students raised a host of issues, ranging from the viability of journalism as a career and news sensationalism to challenges involved in being a media professional. He addressed their queries and gave them valuable advice.
Such a novel programme not only gave the students a platform to display their talents but also made them aware of journalism and writing as a potential career. At the same time, the event helped the students to develop a questioning sensibility empowered with a spirit of inquisition and extrapolation. The day thus concluded in the spirit of Pablo Picasso:
‘Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.’
29.08.14 - INTER-HOUSE TABLE-TENNIS COMPETITION
“It does not matter how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get up.”
The importance of sports in a student’s life is invaluable. They not just help us learn important lessons of discipline and responsibility but also help in overall development. Table-tennis is one of the fastest sports around. It is played all over the world and is a great mental workout. It has lots of benefits like eye-hand coordination, improved reflexes and concentration. The mental alertness required by the sport’s tactical challenges particularly helps sharpen the brain. It is one of the few sports in which size, age and sex are irrelevant competitive factors. In this sport, speed, spin and placement of the ball are crucial. The player is expected to judge them well to make an appropriate return.
Queen’s Valley School organised an Inter-House Table-Tennis Competition for classes III-V in its Cultural Hall on 29 August 2014. The queens participated with great zeal and vigour. A preliminary round was held on 6 August 2014 and those who won went on to play in the final round. The participants practised for over a month for the competition and their hard work paid off in their favour.
The teams of different houses showed up great sportsmanship and the Cultural Hall was filled with the sound of applause for the winners.

28.08.14 - ZONAL GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AT QVS
‘The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have got the most out of what you had to give.’
Interschool Competitions provide motivation to achieve a goal; to demonstrate determination, creativity and perseverance to overcome challenges; and to understand that hard work and commitment leads to a greater chance of success. They teach us to dig deep and find resources we never knew we had; provides us with the opportunity to think outside the box and explore other ways to succeed. The pressure to win or succeed can often inspire more imaginative thinking and inspires us to develop additional skills.
Upholding the imperative spirit of healthy competition, QVS organized the Zonal Girls Basketball Tournament at its premises from 25th to 28th August 2014. The tremendous response appeared in the form of 20 junior category teams, 14 teams in senior category teams and 12 teams in sub-junior category from the Dwarka zone. Participant teams comprised of reputed schools like ITL Public, GD Goenka, Mount Carmel, VIS, SVIS, St. Mary, R D Rajpal, Paramount International and Modern Convent.
The opening ceremony was a spectacle in itself as the participant teams took the oath of true sportsmanship and fair play. It was presided over by the Sports Secretary-Mr N L Meena, Sports Supervisor-Mr. Suresh Gaur and Chief Coach (All India Throw Ball Federation)-Mr. AvneeshSahu. Our Principal Dr. N. Sharma welcomed the guests and the participant teams with full vigour. She wished them luck and asserted ‘let the fair spirit of game be observed throughout the competition’.
The newly revamped basketball court proved to be an icing on the cake. Constructed on international standards, the court provided a smooth and hassle free sporting action to the teams.It also gathered appreciation from one and all. Over the span of four days, the teams displayed their best skills at the game and dribbled their way to success with each match. The thrill and ecstasy of the sport was maintained in all dimensions as each day spelled a new winner and a new step towards the glittering trophy.
On the fourth day (28th August), the closing ceremony was in attendance of the Deputy Director of Education- Ms. VeenaTandon, Sports Supervisor- Mr. Suresh Gaur, Zone Convenor- Mr. S K Singh, Sports Secretary-Mr N L Meena, Sports Joint Secretary- Ms. NeelamSahu, Chief Coach (All India Throw Ball Federation)-Mr. Avneesh Sahu and Chief Referee(All India Throw Ball Federation)- Mr. Rakesh Sharma. The efforts of coaches and players were applauded instilling a confidence to organize more such events in near future.
The lessons learnt through sports are always valuable. Competition brings huge benefits; it motivates you to become more creative; forces you out of your comfort zone and work harder to stay visible.
The lesson through sports is extended to life – do not fear competition, value its influence on you – it inspires people to greatness…and we all win!

26.08.14 - CLASS VIII INTER CLASS ’INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF THE WORLD’ QUIZ COMPETITION
We, at Queen’s Valley School, believe in providing stimulating experiences to our students. To ensure that they become true global citizens a number of recreational activities are well conducted to enhance the familiarity of our queens with world culture. An Inter- class, quiz competition on ’Intangible Heritage of the World’ ‘was organized for class VIII on 26th August, 2014.
Intangible heritage implies traditions or living expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants, such as performing arts, rituals, festive events, etc. An understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of different communities encourages mutual respect for others’ ways of life.
The preliminary round of the inter class quiz competition was held on 22nd August , 2014. Students selected after the preliminary round took part in the final round in the Cultural Hall. The main purpose was to make them aware of the diversity of cultural expressions of the world. The quiz brought to light how well informed the queens were about the same. They participated with great fervor.
The students were tested on their knowledge of different aspects of culture- religions, dressing styles, music and dance styles, of different parts of the world.
The event acted as a stimulant for the students and gave them a chance to test their awareness of the culture of different countries of the world. The students learnt and enjoyed throughout.

25.08.14 - CLASS VI-XII INTER HOUSE VOLLEYBALL
“Adversity causes some (wo)men to break; others to break records”
Volleyball is a physically demanding sport that helps to keep one’s body and mind fit and active. The opportunity to be active and establish a connection with friends makes one socially interactive and helps one to feel part of a group working towards a common goal. In case of girls, it works specifically in a constructive way as it makes them realize their physical capabilities, a realization which finally translates into feelings of self worth, confidence and will power to survive against all odds.
An Inter House Volleyball Competition was organized in the school in the last week of August for classes VI to XII. It was overwhelming to watch that the competitive teams had mastered the six basic skills of the sport: serve, pass, set, attack, block and dig. The event was characterized by pulsating excitement and stupefying performances as students displayed breathtaking agility and finesse both in technique and execution. The training which had been given to them in managing the team’s strategy as well as basic skills during exercises came out quite well in the final confrontation. Their footwork patterns, body positioning in relation to others, and ball contact kept the audience glued to the field. Their speed of movement, anticipation, timing, communication, and teamwork were applauded by all.
With a keenly followed fitness regime and the required strategic planning, the students managed to uphold the spirit of sports throughout as they strived for fair play, courtesy toward teammates and opponents, ethical behaviour and integrity, and grace in victory and defeat alike. The event helped to develop values of constructive social interaction, sportsmanship and healthy competitive spirit in the students.

21.08.14: CLASS VI INTER-CLASS POSTER MAKING COMPETITION TOPIC-UNITY IN DIVERSITY
“We are going forward with the idea of a multicultural, a multinational state, trying to live in unity, at the same time respecting our diversity…But we need to all come together so we can live united.”
To hone the artistic skills of the students, an Intra-Class Poster Making Competition was held for the students of class VI on 21st August, 2014. The topic of the poster making was “Unity In Diversity”.
UNITY IN DIVERSITY- A short and popular phrase all over the world but especially true for us. A true image of unity in diversity is presented by the people of India. There is a wide variety here in every field ranging from sports, food habits, and languages to customs and traditions, but we are all basically one under the canopy of our national flag. The students were given an opportunity to explore the same and display their creative talents with an array of colours on the canvas.
Our Queens participated actively in the poster making competition which was celebrated as part of National Integration Month. They displayed their presentation ability along with their social and cultural observation. They showcased relevance of unity in diversity in our lives with vibrant colours giving a captivating and suitable heading for their poster. All the students were excited to showcase the best of their work. The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation by the students.
The judgment was done on the basis - creativity, presentation, relevance and message.

21.08.14: Class XI –XII USING EXTEMPORE AS A TASK TO IMPROVE ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS
“Public speaking is the art of diluting a two‐minutes idea with a two‐hour vocabulary” and it takes a lot more when it comes to an extempore.
Oral communication fulfills a number of general and discipline-specific academic functions. Students need to speak well in their personal lives, future workplaces, social interactions, and political endeavors. They will have to attend meetings, make presentations, participate in discussions and arguments, and work with groups. If necessary instruction and opportunities to practice speaking are available, students place themselves to achieve a wide range of goals and be useful members of their communities.
Communication skills, both written and oral, go a long way in enhancing the soft skills of students, who are waiting to be welcomed by the world as valued assets. Several methods, techniques are used to develop these skills in students. One such method is Extempore. Extempore is an impromptu speech that is delivered with little or no preparation. Even though it is spontaneous, it requires great effort to deliver an extempore successfully.
It assists students not only in analytical thinking but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision. In an effort to prepare our queens for the same, QVS organized an Inter- Class Extempore Competition for class 11th and 12th on 21st August 2014. A preliminary round was held on 11th August 2014 and those who won went on for the final round. On the day of the competition, students picked up chits on which different topics were written. They were given 10 minutes to prepare and showcase their talent.
The excitement on the stage and the enthusiastic participation by selected students made the event extremely successful. They were judged on the bases of self confidence, facial expression, gestures, and enthusiasm.

20.08.14 - CLASS PRE-SCHOOL AND PRE-PRIMARY, LI’L PICASSO COLOURING COMPETITION
Colouring is all about fun and self expression. Little hands at work look pretty, holding a crayon, busy in their own world of colours and concepts.
Each one gives a different meaning to the picture in front of the eyes. That is how the princesses of Pre -School and Pre-Primary appeared, as they filled colours in the picture during the Li’l Picasso Colouring Competition held in QVS on 20.08.14. The aim of the competition was to give an opportunity to the children to showcase their colouring skills. The li’l queens took their time and did not seem to be in a hurry to complete the colouring. They also enjoyed the Power Point Presentation shown to them about famous painters of the world, like: PABLO PICASSO, M.F. HUSSAIN, LEONARDO DA VINCI, AMRITA SHERGILL, VAN GOGH etc. This competition was taken up as an activity under the action plan of British Council for ISA 2014.

क्वींस वैली स्कूल के प्रांगाण में हिन्दी कविता गायन प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन बुधवार, २०.८.२०१४ को किया गया| इस अवसर पर नन्ही बाल गायिकाओं ने कविताओं को पूरे हर्षोल्लास एंव हाव-भाव के साथ प्रस्तुत किया| उनकी आकर्षक एंव रंग बिरंगी पोषाको एंव सहायक सामग्री ने उनके कविता पाठ में चार चाँद लगा दिए| उनके उत्साह ने सभी श्रोताओं को आत्मविभोर कर दिया|

20.08.14 - Inter-Class Global Eat Street Competition (all sections of class VII)
"To the ruler, the people are heaven; to the people, food is heaven."
It is said that children can be moulded the way you want. Taking a cue from this, Queen’s Valley School offered its Queen’s a different ‘menu’ all together. Apart from the daily routine of assigning kids with homework and class work, children got an opportunity to learn the art of cooking. Inter-Class Global Eat Street Competition was organised in the school for class VII from 20th August 2014 to 22nd August 2014, where in the students got an opportunity to exhibit their cooking skills and redefined cooking by adding up a little more Indian spices to some of the International delicacies. This competition was taken up as an activity under the action plan of British Council for ISA 2014.
Cooking techniques and ingredients vary widely across the world, reflecting unique environmental, economic and cultural traditions. Cooks themselves also vary widely in skill and training. Our own ‘Chefs’ in the making tried their hands at cooking popular street food of various countries of the world. Each section chose a country of the world and presented the street food and stall of that country.
Catering to the tastes and cuisines of various parts of the world, the Queens prepared a variety of dishes. The participants from class VII A represented Mexico, VII B represented China, VII C represented Italy and VII D represented USA.
Pasta and pan-cakes from Mexico came along with a lovely dance performance. From China we had chow-mein, spring –rolls, baozi, lemonade, Manchow soup, Tea etc. Caprese salad, minestrone soup, panini, arancini etc were the popular food from Italy. From USA we had donuts, burgers, sandwiches, mocktails , cookies, corns etc. The presentation of stalls was garnished with lovely music and dance performances.
Participants were judged on the basis of hospitality, taste of dishes, decoration of stalls, and number of items as well as presentation of the dish- keeping in mind that if the food was decorated well, it added a different flavour to the food.
The Queens had a wonderful time using ladles and spoons to mix ‘saus’, ‘ingredients’, and ‘seasoning ’to create flavours of countries across the world. The competition was presided over by an international visitor Mrs. Anupama Rebecca Kerr (an English Second language teacher at Gulf British Academy, Kuwait. She has had a vast experience in teaching students with special needs especially ADHD, and autism.) The visitor appreciated the students for their presentation work and the hard work put in by them to prepare international delicacies.
Activities in cooking enable the students to become independent in thought and work. This also builds an attitude of sharing among students. When they cook, they have to share and similarly while eating they share their food. Organising various stalls will help to develop their organisational skills.
It was a wonderful experience for them as they learnt to make simple yet interesting snack all by themselves.

20.08.14 - INTER CLASS QUIZ - WORLD MONUMENTS (III)
“Memory is the treasure house of the mind wherein the monuments thereof are kept and preserved.”
Monuments have been created for thousands of years, and they are often the most durable and famous symbols of ancient civilizations. It is well known that historical places are important because they hold history within them that can be conveyed to future generations. Moreover the world has been ruled by many kings and emperors. Many of the rulers have built monuments to commemorate important events of their lives and their relationship with their loved ones, public and even God. They have used the best construction material and architectural styles available at that time. Hence, study of monuments is important to understand different eras of history.
An inter-class quiz competition on ‘Monuments of World’ was organized for class III. The preliminary round of the competition was held on 20 Aug 2014.Students selected after the preliminary round took part in the final round on 25 Aug 2014. The final round had four rounds. The questions that were asked were related to identification of the monuments, their location, the person who built them and purpose of building those monuments. With help of such quiz activities we can introduce our children to the lifestyle, culture, religion and traditions of the people who witnessed the construction of these monuments.
Our Queens participated with great zeal. The event acted as a confidence booster for them and gave them a chance to showcase their talent and knowledge. It was a learning experience for the participants as well as for the audience. The audience too appreciated the efforts of our queens.
19.08.14 - Inter-Class Caricature Competition - Class X
“Every artist was first an amateur.”
“Artistic talent is a gift from God and whoever discovers it in herself has a certain obligation; to know that she cannot waste this talent, but must develop it.” We, at QVS believe in developing these amateurs into artists and to hone this artistic talent of the students, an Inter-Class Caricature Competition was held for the students of class X on 19th August, 2014. The topic of the Caricature was “Our Political Leaders and their achievements”.
A caricature is a description of a person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others in order to create a comic or grotesque effect solely for entertainment.
Our Queens participated actively in the Caricature competition which was celebrated as part of ‘Heritage Month’. They displayed their creativity in their art files. Students participated in the event with joy and enthusiasm and enjoyed the multihued activity. The senior queens made beautiful caricatures of Lal Krishna Advani, Mamta Banerjee, Narender Modi, Barak Obama, Sushma Swaraj, Jayalalitha, Arvind Kejariwal, Venkaiya Naidu etc. which were skillfully displayed. The topics of caricature broadened their imaginative horizons and their creativity.
The competition gave the queens a platform to showcase their artistic talent. Also it promoted an understanding among students about our political leaders. The coherent and contemplative caricature showcasing the achievements of our leaders were appreciated a lot by the judges. The caricatures were judged on the basis of resemblance, drawing exploration through sketching and reflection.

19.08.14 - Navigator’s Express- Sail across the World
True Learning is not just limited to bookish knowledge but also entails development and growth of other skills. With this thought, we at QVS, conduct a variety of competitions. Recently, we organized a Quiz Competition on Navigator’s Express- Sail across the World on 19/08/2014 in the school premises. The Quiz was held among the four sections of the IX class. The children came fully prepared for the quiz which resulted in healthy competition among the teams. The quiz helped the students to improve their general awareness about the sailors across the world.
The aim of the quiz was to inculcate the importance of planning and exploring new things among the students. It was organized to give them a fair idea about the life of a sailor. Like a sailor, plans and chalks out a map before sailing, similarly in a student’s life it is important to plan and explore new things to be successful in life.
The purpose of organizing the quiz was achieved as the students showed a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. All the IX class students gave their best shot in order to win the competition. The school organized the prelims to select the best three students from each section to form a team for the final. On the final which was held on 19/08/2014, every team performed exceptionally well, making the atmosphere very competitive.

13 अगस्त 2014 को सम्पन्न हुए उक्त समारोह का शुभारम्भ मुख्यातिथि श्रीमती स्मृति जूबिन ईरानी “माननीया मानव संसाधन विकास मन्त्री” ने दीप प्रज्ज्वालन से किया|
राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर आयोजित इस समारोह में सम्पूर्ण देश से आए अनेक विजेता छात्र छात्राओं ने भाग लिया| समारोह में 29000 से अधिक पुरस्कार विद्यालय स्तर पर तथा 119 पुरस्कार राष्ट्रीय स्तर परश्रीमती स्मृति ईरानी द्वारा विजेता छात्र छात्राओं को दिए गए| उल्लेखनीय है कि राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्राप्त 119 पुरस्कारों में से संस्कृत श्लोकान्त्याक्षरी का प्रथम पुरस्कार एवं संस्कृत कविता रचना प्रतियोगिता का तृतीय पुरस्कार “क्वींस वैली विद्यालय” को दिया गया| जिसके अन्तर्गत छात्राओं को ‘प्रशस्ति पत्र’ व ‘साक्षात् धन’ तथा विद्यालय को भी ‘प्रशस्ति पत्र’ व ‘मेडल’ प्रदान करके मुख्यातिथि द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया|
13.08.14 - Independence Day Celebration
“That future is not one of ease or resting but of incessant striving so that we may fulfill the pledges we have so often taken and the one we shall take today.”
These are Pandit Nehru’s memorable words which he delivered on the midnight of August 14-15, 1947 and these precisely embody what we strove to inculcate in the queens at QVS through this year’s I-Day celebrations. Independence Day in India commemorates 15th August, the day on which India attained independence after remaining under the colonial rule for over 200 years. Declared a National holiday, the Independence Day is celebrated throughout the country with much fanfare and gaiety. We, at Queens Valley School celebrated the 68th Independence Day with immense pride and solemnity on August 13, 2014.
The guests of honor included Vice Chairperson Mr. Anil Sachdeva, Academic Advisor Dr. Chaddha and member, Managing Committee Mrs. Kiran Gambhir. The Vice Chairperson unfurled the tricolour with its bands symbolizing courage and sacrifice, peace and truth, and faith and chivalry in order to infuse respect for these values in the students. The National Anthem which inevitably stirs immense ardour in the hearts of people was sung next. The Vice Chairman then commenced the programme with his wise and thought provoking words. He stressed on the unarguably important role played by education in ushering true freedom in today’s world. His speech became an inspiration for our little queens who have been brought up in contemporary India.
The stage was set in the most enticing manner and the preparations were impeccable. Coupled together, they generated a remarkable effect and succeeded in making the audience applaud for the students incessantly. The festivities were aimed at inspiring the students to respect, admire and emulate the zeal showcased by our national heroes in the past. The theme ‘Ek Bhārat Shreshtha Bhārat’ was presented through an aesthetic revelry of music and dance performances which blended the glorious past with the present and projected an optimistic future. The programme was organized in a way to inspire the same national fervor of yesteryears but with a contemporary approach. The performances on classics like ‘Ek chidiya anek chidiya’ were enticing as well as inspiring as they focused on the importance of identification and realization of one’s potential so as to be able to contribute to the nation’s progress in a positive manner.
Our queens proliferated magic as they showcased their enthusiasm for the occasion and dexterity in various forms of art. The comperes did an excellent job as they welcomed the guests and kept the audience mesmerized. The students engaged themselves in making the festivities flamboyant and jubilant as they presented before the audience a blend of the traditional and the Western dance forms. The eyes of the audience were glued to the stage as they rejoiced in the wide range of performances succeeding one another.
As Jawaharlal Nehru once said, “We are citizens of a great country on the verge of bold advance, and we have to live up to that high standard.“
At QVS, our emphasis has always been on preparing our queens to be constructive participants in the development of the society. Our celebration was held on the same lines as we stressed on the role of today’s generation in building a brighter and stronger future for them. The Vice Chairperson released balloons representing the National flag to indicate the completion of the event with a progressive outlook as the spectators took pride in celebrating India’s national and cultural heritage.
07.08.14: Report - ‘Love Bands’: Rakhi and Friendship Band Making Competition.
“When I count my blessings, I count you twice.”
The chaste bond of love between a brother and sister is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions. Celebrated on the full moon of the month of Shravana, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ or ‘Rakhi’ is a special occasion to celebrate this emotional bond by tying a holy amulet around the brother’s wrist. This amulet, which pulsates with sisterly love and sublime sentiments, is rightly called ‘Rakhi’, which means ‘a bond of protection’. On this day, both the siblings pray for each other’s well-being and goodwill.
“Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
The tradition of dedicating a day in honour of friends began in US in 1935. Observed on the first Sunday every August, Friendship Day gradually gained popularity in a large number of countries, especially among youth. This day gives people a chance to put their consistently busy lives on hold and spend it with their friends, expressing gratitude and affection and making lasting memory. Exchange of flowers, cards and colourful wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.
To acknowledge these two occasions that celebrate and signify two wonderful relationships, Queen’s Valley School organised a Rakhi and Friendship Band making competition ‘Love Bands’ on 7th August, 2014, where students of Class V got a chance to portray their creativity and talent. This competition was taken as an activity under the action play of British Council for ISA 2014. It was truly a delight to watch these young artisans judicially utilise ornaments, sparkles, mirrors, adhesive etc. and put together intricate material to create wonderful masterpieces. The beautiful assortment of rakhis and friendship bands were displayed, following which the Principal, Dr. N Sharma, talked to the students regarding the importance of both the occasions.

05.08.14: CLASS X-C Special assembly on (CYCLONES)
Natural disasters play havoc on life and property. Sometimes millions of lives are lost in these disasters . Some measures can be taken to minimize the impact of natural disasters but they cannot be averted altogether.
Public awareness on disaster management is important as simple do’s and don’ts of disasters can save many lives during disasters.
On 5th August the students of class X-C presented an assembly on the topic ‘’ Cyclones’’. The assembly started with a prayer sung by the entire class followed by English , Sanskrit, Hindi and French thoughts. The students also presented general knowledge facts on cyclones to spread awareness among the audience .The students presented a skit showing the effects of cyclones . The skit was also supported by the dance performance on the song “pray for me brother” .The students had also prepared a background board on the same depicting the destruction caused by a cyclone. All the participating students performed enthusiastically. It was a learning experience for the students where they learnt about the causes , effects and precautions to be taken in the cyclone prone areas
The efforts put in by the students were appreciated by the audience.

There’s a way to do it better – find it
Freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges or beliefs. New ideas grow in the minds of children. Exhibitions are opportunities where ideas will begin to bloom for the development of the world.
With an endeavour to promote scientific attitude among budding young students, “INNOVENTIONS” was hosted by Queen’s Valley School on 26th July and 2nd August, 2014. The event saw young enthusiastic participants from different classes putting up participatory exhibits comprising of innovative working models and investigation based projects. The exhibits by different students were indeed eye openers on various topics related to Eco Friendly Housing, Hydraulic Lift, Night Lamp, Railway Signal , Structure of DNA, Graphite, Diamond, Magnetic Skeleton, Electric Buzzer, Grey water treatment, Rainwater Harvesting Methods, Biogeochemical cycles and many more. The exhibition was open to parents and they showed keen interest in the work of future scientists. The efforts put in by the students were appreciated by all.
The exhibition covered the three main fields in Science, namely- Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It presented the students with a great opportunity to showcase their talent and bring out either the ‘Innovator’ or the ‘Inventor, in every young individual.
“Techno park of QVS” was the highlight of the exhibition which included exhibits comprising Soil Moisture Sensor, Intelligent washer, On Road life saver, Learning Bench for Blind, Cool tool 2D to 3D and Jive to Joules. These models have been selected for Regional Level CBSE Science Exhibition. The school again proved true to its principles of scientific inquiry, innovation and experimentation by creating exceptionally novel and utilitarian scientific models.
The Exhibition was a huge success. Enthusiasm and effervescence overflowed amongst students, their teachers and parents!
01.08.14 - Class XD Special Assembly
Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we're still at the mercy of nature.
A natural disaster is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth other geologic processes. A natural disaster can cause loss of life or property damage, and typically leaves some economic damage in its wake, the severity of which depends widely on lack of the knowledge of disaster management.
Earthquakes constitute one of the worst natural hazards, which often turn into disaster causing widespread destruction and loss to human life. Many of these could possibly be avoided by better construction, safety systems, early warning and planning.
On 1st August 2014, class X-D presented a special assembly on the topic ‘Earthquake’. The students started with the school prayer followed by English, Hindi and French thoughts, G.K. facts, joke and English news. Thereafter, the students presented a series of scenes depicting the measures to be taken before, during as well as after the earthquake hits a place.
It was a well conducted assembly. Children dressed themselves according to their roles. They delivered their dialogues with great poise and perfection.
Queens ended their assembly with a special message that “Tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today” The students gave a thematic ending to the assembly by dancing on a song ‘Happy’ (sung by Pharell Williams) .Their performance was applauded and appreciated by all.
